About St. Canice's Parish

We are a community of people who believe in God who showers His unconditional and abundant love on each one of us. We try to follow His teachings and take example from the life of Jesus Christ with inspiration from the Holy Spirit, to live a righteous life by strengthening our Christian Catholic faith. We love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and try to love our neighbour as ourselves inspired by the intercession of Mary, the Mother of God and of the Church, as also guided by St Canice and St Margaret. We as a community bounded together with the strings of God's love, in communion with the Catholic Church, our Holy Father Pope Francis and our Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, work together to reveal God's love through our life. We invite everyone to feel the presence of God and partake of His gifts while we walk together on this road to eternal peace.

We are a Parish Family who believe in God as we try to follow His teachings and take example from the life of Jesus Christ to live our lives by strengthening our Christian Catholic faith. In our community we try to love our neighbour as ourselves and we invite everyone to be with us on our journey of faith together.

History

St. Canice's church was built between 1920 and 1922 and was opened by Archbishop Walsh. It replaced the old ,Barn Church, which had served Finglas village for many years. The church was extended in the mid-1950s to serve the ever-growing new suburb of Finglas.

Vision

St. Canice's Parish endeavours to foster a warm, welcoming and supportive sense of community and belonging. We aspire to cultivate the growth in the spiritual life of our community and inspire active participation in parish life through a commitment to stewardship and service. In living out our vision, we will seek to accompany each member of our Parish Family as we carry out the mission that is entrusted to us.

Mission

We, the Catholic community of St. Canice's respond to our Baptismal call. We are guided by the gospel values and we seek to continue the mission of Jesus Christ by welcoming, supporting and guiding all in our Parish Family through prayer, sacramental celebration, service and education.
