About St. Canice's Parish

Recently the parishes of St. Canice's & St. Margaret's, St. Oliver Plunkett's & St. Finian's and the Annunciation in Finglas West have been meeting to plan the next steps as the Greater Finglas Parish. All the resources of the three Parishes are now working together in new ways. These changes are being seen as an opportunity for all of us to come together as a stronger Parish. The journey ahead is not without its challenges but we are more confident now together as we make tentative steps in a new direction for all. With a newly constituted Parish Team and a revised Mass schedule we will keep you all informed of our next steps.

History

St. Canice's church was built between 1920 and 1922 and was opened by Archbishop Walsh. It replaced the old ,Barn Church, which had served Finglas village for many years. The church was extended in the mid-1950s to serve the ever-growing new suburb of Finglas.

Vision

St. Canice's Parish endeavours to foster a warm, welcoming and supportive sense of community and belonging. We aspire to cultivate the growth in the spiritual life of our community and inspire active participation in parish life through a commitment to stewardship and service. In living out our vision, we will seek to accompany each member of our Parish Family as we carry out the mission that is entrusted to us.

Mission

We, the Catholic community of St. Canice's respond to our Baptismal call. We are guided by the gospel values and we seek to continue the mission of Jesus Christ by welcoming, supporting and guiding all in our Parish Family through prayer, sacramental celebration, service and education.
