THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY / MARRIAGE
PÓSADH
Congratulations on your decision to get married. The whole Christian community wishes to join with you and your families in celebrating this very special new beginning in your lives. We also undertake to assist you in every way we can as you journey to your wedding day and during your married life.

God is love is the centre of our faith. The sacrament of Marriage is where God blesses the union of a man and a woman in an unbreakable bond to mirror His love for us which has two qualities - it is faithful, and it is everlasting. Marriage is not to be entered into lightly. The Church is very serious about couples wishing to marry, that they understand what they are undertaking and that they give it their complete and utter consent.

When a couple wishes to marry in St Canice's parish they meet with the priest three times to fill out the Pre Nuptial Enquiry Form. This is done on behalf of the archbishop who wishes all people who intend to celebrate any sacrament to be well informed and to choose the sacrament freely

The diocesan agency ACCORD provides assistance to couples preparing for the sacrament of Marriage and for couples who may experience problems during their Marriage.

The NAOMI association also provides pre-marriage courses for couples and locally provide couples with information and assistance on Natural Family Planning which accords with the Church's teaching

Please contact the Parish Office at 01 834 3110 to set the train in motion at least 6 months prior to your intended date.

Download the enquiry form to begin your preparations for Marriage in St. Canice's or St. Margaret's.

Renewal of the Wedding Vows
Between the 12.00pm Sunday Mass and the Baptism  on  Feb 7th  2016 Mary and Con O' Donoghue celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary together with their family. The Folk Group were on hand as they sang "Love is an Ocean" after the Renewal of the Marriage Vows. The families of those children attending for Baptism were enthusiastic in their congratulations. Fr. Michael explained that the happy couple were being watched in Singapore, Canada and England for sure, that's not counting on the audience that were logging on to view the Baptism. We extend our sincerest congratulations to Mary & Con.
